What Goes Into Your Car’s A/C Refrigerant & Maintenance?

Welcome to June’s blog! Summer has finally come, and COVID-19 appears to be on the wane, so it looks like vacations and road trips are back in vogue. It’s an excellent time for finally getting out of the house and having an adventure or two.

With summer here, your car’s air conditioning system is about to be working overtime. If it’s been a while since a mechanic last serviced your A/C, it may require a little extra attention. Here is what to expect in your car’s A/C maintenance service:

  • Measuring the amount of pressure in your system. The pressure levels in your car’s air conditioning system can help you determine if your system is working correctly. If the pressure is too high or too low, then there is a problem.

  • Recharging. If the A/C in your car doesn’t seem to have as much power as usual or blows warm air, then you probably need to recharge your system by having a qualified auto mechanic add more refrigerant to the system.

  • Checking for leaks and fixing cracks. A leak detector can pinpoint leaks in the AC system. Once located, the part that is leaking will need ordering and replacing.

  • Replacing or cleaning filters. Cleaning air filters is an integral part of maintaining your AC system. However, if an air filter gets clogged, it can prevent the AC from working at all, and the filter needs replacing.

If your A/C requires maintenance, please schedule an appointment to get it fixed at Super Service! We will make sure that you are ready and cool for the summer. Schedule an appointment today. We look forward to seeing you soon!
